Laundry/Driver Assistant

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for driving the Community bus to transport residents to appointments and other miscellaneous activity programs. The position is also responsible for completing resident laundry and other housekeeping tasks as assigned.

Job Duties:
Essential Functions

Support the mission, vision, and culture of the organization through positive communication and leadership.

Contribute to Community relationships by demonstrating cooperation and professional conduct with residents, families, fellow associates, physicians, pharmacies, and other vendors or persons.

Contribute to team effort by being flexible in work assignments; by being supportive; by taking initiative; and by understanding how this position affects and compliments all other Community positions.

Able to maintain appropriate work pace while performing duties and maintaining regular attendance and punctuality within specified tolerance.

Operate walkie-talkie to communicate with the front desk to report the status of service.

Operate commercial washer and dryer and other cleaning equipment normally associated with the position.

Stock laundry and cleaning cart with supplies. Maintain clean laundry room and keep chemicals in an orderly fashion.

Fold linens and resident clothing articles. Follow laundering procedures.

Drive residents to appointments.

Assist residents in and out of the bus using the wheelchair lift as well as during activities outside the Community.

Ensure residents are safely seated with seat belts or in wheelchair locking mechanisms.

Account for all residents’ presence when leaving or returning to the Community.

Fill the vehicle with gasoline at pre-approved service stations.

Be familiar with Northstar Senior Living Policies & Procedures Manual and Northstar Senior Living Associate Handbook.

Job Specifications:
Skill

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Valid license to drive a passenger vehicle and a clean motor vehicle report.

Must be able to effectively communicate with residents, staff, family members, and physicians.

Effort

Must be at least 25 years old and maintain a clean driving record
Must have required health screening, TB clearance, and criminal record clearance

Maintain mental alertness, attention, and concentration for necessary periods.

Apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions (written, oral or diagrammatic).

Adapt to situations requiring the precise attainment of set limits, tolerances, or standards.

Regularly required to sit and talk or listen.

Able to stand, stoop and bend frequently, lift up to 50 pounds, and push up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust the focus of the eyes.

Possess adequate physical stamina to move freely about the Community and assist residents where needed, including in emergency situations.

Working Conditions

Must be willing and able to work required and scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, overtime, and holidays.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
May work in wet or slippery conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 – $14.00 per hour
